Suki Sivam, Vaigai Selvan among state award recipients
Noted orator Suki Sivam, who is well known for his speeches including those touching upon religious topics, was chosen for the Kambar Award for 2017, on Tuesday.

Former minister and AIADMK leader Vaigai Selvan was named for Sollin Selvar in the list of awards that the Tamil Nadu government announced on Tuesday.
Among other awards for 2017 that the government announced on Tuesday included Bengaluru Tamil Sangam, Kabilar Award – Ku Ve Balasubramanian; U Ve Saa Award – Sa Kiruttinamoorthy; GU Pope Award – Rajeswari Kothandam; Umarupulavar Award – Hajee M Mohammed Yousuf; Ilangovadigal Award – Ve Nallathambi; Amma Literary Award – MS Srilakshmi(Singapore); and CM Cyber Tamil Award (for 2016) – Ultimate Software Solutions. Recipients for Translator Awards 2017 are: Nellai S Muthu, Thi Va Deivasigamani, A Selvarasu alias Kurinjivelan, Anaivari Anandan, Maravan Pulavu Sachidhanandham, Vasantha Shyamalam, R K Haldorai, CA Sankaranarayanan, Andal Priyadarshini, and Tarlochan Singh Bedi.Â
The state also announced Ulaga Tamil Sangam Awards 2016 and 2017. Literature Award was given to N Aundiyappan, Singapore (2016), and Chandrika Subramanian, Australia (2017); Grammar Award – Benjamni Lebo, France (2016), and Ulriche Nicholas, Germany (2017); and Linguistics Award – Subashini, Germany (2016) and Mahadeva Iyer Jayaramasharma, Australia (2017).
