DMK North convener SP Sivakumar and South convener R Siva told mediapersons that the DMK’s decision will be binding on Puducherry. If necessary, the DMK will hold talks with all political party leaders in connection with the bandh, they said.

They also called up on social organisations which had called for a bandh here on April 11, to support the DMK bandh on April 5 considering that the agitation is for the cause of Tamils.

Meanwhile, as many as 50 volunteers of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurumai Katchi (TVK) were arrested when they organized an agitation at the Morattandi Tollgate in Viluppuram district of Tamil Nadu near here.

According to Auroville police, 50 TVK volunteers led by its leader Sridhar picketed the Morattandi tollgate and shouted slogans against the BJP government at the centre. Tension prevailed as they advised vehicle drivers to pass the tollgate without paying toll. As they refused to heed to the request of the police to disperse, they were arrested, police added.

Meanwhile, TVK volunteers led by party president Velmurugan ransacked the Toll gate at Ulundurpet following which police arrested them.
