Speaking to media at the Coimbatore International Airport, the minister said that schools should not conduct special classes for students after the conclusion of their exams.
All examinations, including Plus Two and SSLC, gets over by April end.
“An order has been issued in this regard and failure to comply with it will be dealt severely,” said the school education minister.
This warning comes after private schools faced the ire from parents for exerting pressure on students by holding special classes even before the start of the academic year to prepare them for facing board examinations.
On the NEET examination, the minister said that 4000 medical aspirants will be trained to take the entrance examination. “Students will be selected for NEET coaching based on marks scored in the SSLC examination. The training will help students to not only get through in medicine, but handle examinations in other fields too,” Sengottaiyan said. The school education minister said that the government has taken efforts to create awareness on NEET exam and its training process among the students.
“Apart from medicine, students can choose from about 286 subjects to pursue higher studies. Students would be encouraged to take up other studies too. Details on those subjects will be put up on information boards in schools for the benefit of students,” the minister for school education said.
