Speaking at the demonstration, he said the state governments are not implementing provisions of the act properly and the Supreme Court’s guidelines would paralyse the act.

The Centre must immediately appeal against the guidelines which encourage casteists and would pave way for increase in attacks on Dalits. He also welcomed the Supreme Court judgment against honour killing.

He also accused the state BJP unit of supporting their party in Karnataka without any concern for the people of Tamil Nadu. The state should file a contempt petition against the Union if it failed to set up the Cauvery Management Board in a day, he said. He also announced that he would lead a protest against Sterlite Industries in Thoothukudi on April 1.
