Pondicherry University to boost ties with French Universities
Consul General of France in Puducherry and Chennai, Catherin Suard along with a French delegation held a meeting with Pondicherry University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Gurmeet Singh on Tuesday.

According to a University release here on Wednesday, they discussed how to enhance the bilateral ties between Pondicherry University and the French Universities.Â
Prof Nalini J Thampi, Dean, School of Humanities, highlighted the various MOUs in which Pondicherry University has been actively engaged since 2009 with the University Lumiere of Lyon, the University of Lyon, the University Montaigne of Bordeaux, the University of Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne, the University of Rennes 1, the French Institute and others.Â
There will also be cooperative projects in the various fields of science as well as management. Exchange of students and faculty will be further encouraged. Currently, some 15-20 French students come to pursue a semester or two at Pondicherry University, choosing different courses across the campus every year, Prof Thampi said.Â
After the meeting, the French delegation and the Vice-Chancellor visited the University’s French department which coincidentally is celebrating the Francophony Week. They appreciated the various activities the French department had undertaken to showcase the specificities of Francophony.
