Party name allocation: EC calls Dhinakaran for meet on March 26
The Election Commission has summoned Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran for an enquiry on March 26 about the allocation of party name and symbol.

Dhinakaran, who had already announced a party name and flag, is expected to communicate it to the Commission. The Delhi High Court had directed the EC to allocate ‘Pressure Cooker’ symbol to his party.
Dhinakaran’s party members said it is only a routine enquiry and the party name would remain the same and the ‘Pressure Cooker’ symbol would be formally allocated. His lawyers are expected to appear before the EC and convey his views. After the launching of the party without ‘Dravida’ in its name, the ruling AIADMK had moved the Madras High Court challenging only the flag and not the name of the new party. The flag of AMMK has two colours black and red with the image of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa in white in the middle.
Speaking to reporters on the party name and flag, Dhinakaran asked, “How can the AIADMK oppose a flag containing the image of Amma? There is also a big difference in the flag size of his party and that of the AIADMK. The two flags are not similar except the colours used in them.”
