Teacher held on sexual assault charges

According to police, the teacher Xavior sexually assaulted the girl two months back. 

Subsequently, the girl informed two women teachers of the school about the incident then. However, they did not allegedly ignored the her complaint. 

Following this, the girl told her parents and they informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The CWC after hearing the girl, directed the D Nagar police to initiate action against the teacher. Police arrested Xavior and lodged him at the Central Prison here. Meanwhile, the Education Department suspended Xavior and the two women teachers who failed to initiate action based on the complaint of the girl. A circular has also been sent to all schools to inform the department of any incidents taking place in the school and to initiate immediate action. 

A 45 year old man was found murdered at Shanmughapuram in Mettuppalayam limits in the Union Territory on Tuesday. People noticed the body near a shop with its head smashed with boulders and alerted the police. 

Police retrieved the body and sent it to the government medical college hospital here for post-mortem. On investigation, the deceased was identified as Ravi (45) residing in Shanmughapuram weavers colony. Mettuppalayam police registered a case and launched an investigation. The reason for the murder is not known yet, police said.
