They said one-word questions and compulsory question section were hard to answer. “One-word section and the compulsory question were tough,” K Sai Shreya, a student of Vidyodaya Matriculation School at Nungambakkam in the city said.

She said the compulsory questions were not asked from the student’s exercise in the textbook. “We have never faced these questions in the exams conducted in our school,” Shreya added. After seeing the question paper, many school teachers also opined that students scoring centum in Maths would reduce considerably this year.

However, Class 11 students who appeared for Zoology said that the question paper was easy. “It was not that difficult. Most of the questions were answerable,” K Anandan studying in higher secondary school near Pallavaram said. It may be recalled that the students said there were a few errors in the English One question paper while the English Two paper was difficult.

More than 8.6 lakh Class 11 students are writing the exams till April 9. Also, Group three Class 11 students will be facing Commerce exams on Friday. Several students will also write Geography and Home Science on the same day.

Meanwhile, Class 10 CBSE students have appeared for their respective language paper on Tuesday. Similarly, many Class 12 CBSE students have written History exam on the same day.

It may be noted that Class 11 board exams returned to the State this year after several decades. Several educationalists opined that this would help the students in preparing for competitive exams, including NEET. This would also prevent schools from directly jumping to Class 12 syllabus.
