Jumbo stops school bus in Gudiyattam

The bus was on its way to school after picking up students from Mordhana and Kottamitta. When the bus reached Iriukalkodu, a lone elephant came on to the road and stood in front of the bus for a few minutes. Driver Mariappan asked the children not to make any noise. The elephant went back into the forest after some time and the bus resumed its journey. 

After the driver briefed about the unusual encounter, school authorities informed the forest department and sought their help to prevent such incidents in future. Forest officials inspected the area and fired a carbide gun to scare away wild animals from the locality.
