Banker among 2 held for liquor smuggling
Two persons, including the deputy manager of a bank, were arrested here on Monday for smuggling IMFL bottles from Bengaluru to Karur.

On a tip-off that liquor bottles were being smuggled on the Mumbai-Tirunelveli Dadar Express train, DSP TK Rajasekaran alerted a team of police, including top officers, to conduct a search in the train at the Karur railway station.Â
While the search was under way, two passengers got down with four bags and gave contradictory responses to the police. Immediately, police inspected their bags and found 110 liquor bottles.Â
The police arrested the duo later identified as C Jegannathan (53) of Vennamalai near Karur and C Sathish (36) of Vengamedu. Jegannathan was the deputy manager of the Vengamedu branch of Lakshmi Vilas Bank.
