Teen badly hurt as country gun goes off accidentally
An 18-year-old catering college student was severely injured and was battling for life in a hospital here after a country gun went off accidentally on Friday.

P Santhosh (18) of Venkatachalapuram near Thuraiyur was pursuing a catering course in a private college at Perambalur. He reportedly took his grandfather Chokkalingam’s country gun on Friday and went for hunting wild birds at a wet land near Venkatachalapuram.
Santhosh reportedly placed the gun near a tree after loading it and was waiting for the birds. However, the loaded gun fell down and fired due which Santhosh sustained a severe injury On hearing his screams for help, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued Santhosh and sent him to Thuraiyur GH.Â
However, the doctors there referred him to the Tiruchy GH due to his critical condition. But Santhosh’s father Palraj rushed him to a private hospital in Tiruchy where he has been undergoing treatment in the ICU.Â
Meanwhile, the Uppiliapuram police, who visited the spot, conducted inquiries and later registered a case.Â
In the meantime, the police also inquired with Chokkalingam, Santosh’s grandfather and owner of the gun. Further investigations were on.
