Close shave for five as car falls into dry well

According to police, Sundaraj from Somanur in Coimbatore was heading to Udumalpet with his wife Radhamani and three other relatives, when the incident happened. 

As they crossed Mandiripalayam near Palladam, the rear wheel of the car burst. “Sundaraj, who was at the wheels, lost control of the vehicle and it plunged into a well located in a farm along the road,” police said.

Villagers noticed the incident and began swift rescue operations. 

They were also joined by fire and rescue services personnel in a short while. A ladder was dropped into the well and all the five persons were helped out of the well to safety. 

A major tragedy was averted as the well was dry. The injured persons were sent to a private hospital for treatment.
