The Edappadi-led government’s anniversary fell on February 16 and the announcement comes at a time when the anniversary celebration is overdue by nearly a month.
The Minister told the media that the state had planned to unveil as many as six short-films documenting the achievements made by the Edappdi regime on that day. ‘Ammavin vazhiyil nallatchi, atharku intha orandu sathanaiyae saatchi’ (loosely translated to – one-year achievements of the government bears testimony to the fact that we are following in the footsteps of Jayalalithaa and offering good governance) would be the title for the proposed short-films.
The Minister disclosed that the event will be held at Kalaivanar Arangam and would see the attendance of the entire state cabinet. On AIADMK founder and former CM MGR’s birth anniversary celebrations, the Minister said that a grand finale (which is also overdue) would take place in the city.
Earlier, the Minister said that works are underway to build a memorial at final resting place of Jayalalithaa on the Marina and steps are in place to convert the Poes Garden residence into a memorial at a cost of Rs 50.8 crore.
The Minster also recalled the construction of a memorial for Dr B Sivanthi Aditanar in Tiruchendur and construction of MGR Centenary arch, among others.
Raju advised the Publicity officials on as to how to enhance the reach of the government and also to keep a tab on the district wise outreach campaigns.
