Quash Assembly secretary’s posting, Stalin urges Governor
Leader of Opposition MK Stalin has urged the Governor Banwarilal Purohit to quash the appointment of K Srinivasan as secretary to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Chennai
Condemning the appointment, Stalin, in a statement issued here on Sunday said that a person cannot be appointed Assembly Secretary by overlooking seniority just because he worked with the office of the Speaker.
Wondering how the Governor had given his consent to the appointment, which was a proof of violation, the LoP said the office of Secretary was not only important but also the prime position in the State Legislative Assembly, a symbol of primacy of democracy.
The appointment of Secretary made with scant respect to the roster and against the rules of Legislative Assembly has resulted in mental anguish of Legislative Assembly employees and officers, which in turn has impacted the functioning of the Legislative Assembly, the DMK working president alleged.
Recalling the five-year extension given to former Assembly Secretary AMP Jamaludeen, overlooking seniority-based promotion, Stalin said, “The hasty creation of special post and immediate elevation from that position to the office of Special Secretary within four months and subsequent appointment as Assembly Secretary has clearly revealed that the rule of law is not being honoured in the AIADMK regime.”
