TN to rope in IT firm for upgrading exam system
In a bid for transparency, Tamil Nadu government will appoint a leading Information Technology firm to undertake software-based, integrated end-to-end Exam Automation Solution for the state Teachers Education university.
Chennai
The software company, which should have ISO 9001-2008 certification, should generate and allocate register number for the candidates appearing for exams to publication of results. Sources from the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TTEU) said that at present the examination process was not on a par with other private universities.
“We will select a software company, which has executed confidential jobs related to Controller of Examination section to minimum three State universities here, for a minimum two years continuously,” a senior TTEU official said.
The other works of the software company would also include online entry of internal marks, optical mark recognition (OMR) top and bottom sheet scanning, publishing result on website and sending it directly through SMS to the students, and posting the result gallery for downloading by individual from college login. The official said that the company, which would be on contract basis for three years, would start its work from May or June 2018 exams.
“The empowered committee constituted by the TTEU will examine and evaluate the technical aspects of the companies before selecting one,” he added. The IT company would also supply certificates with security features to the candidates, besides managing data room that would monitor servers and networking the client with secured access for carrying out the work.
