No more time for reply, Jaya probe panel tells Sasikala
The one-man inquiry commission probing former CM J Jayalalithaa’s death refused to give further time to VK Sasikala to file her reply. The panel reconvened after a brief hiatus on Tuesday following Justice A Arumughasamy’s illness.

Sasikala’s counsel Raja Senthoor Pandian filed a petition seeking time till March 14 to file her affidavit. But the commission dismissed the petition stating that Sasikala had already been granted extension five times during the course of the proceedings. It is speculated that any further delay on the part of Sasikala will see Justice Arumughasamy considering the option of visiting her at the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa’s driver Kannan deposed before the panel and said that he trailed the ambulance, which took Jaya to Apollo Hospitals. He also said that he saw the former CM five days after her hospitalisation and she seemed to be in good health then.
The state government too responded to the panel’s request for forming a medical committee to look into the documents submitted by Apollo Hospitals regarding the treatment. The state informed the judge that the committee will be formed in a week’s time.
Sasikala’s nephew Vivek Jayaraman has been summoned once again on March 9.
