SSA director pulls up schools over teaching lapses during review meet
Coming down heavily on government and government-aided schools in Tirupattur education district for lapses in teaching methodology, T Nandakumar, state project director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) on Friday pointed out that students’ knowledge and exposure to skills was lagging, thereby revealing the teachers’ ineptitude.
Vellore
Nandakumar was chairing a day long review session at the Vellore collectorate, in which nearly 35 schools participated. The performance of the assistant elementary education officer was also reviewed.Â
The review session saw Nandakumar taking a stern view of deficiencies, which resulted in one school head being issued a charge memo. He also criticized that few schools were not serious about their work.Â
He highlighted that CDs, computers, dictionaries and library books were not being used for the benefit of students. Even officials charged with periodic inspection to monitor the progress of both school and students were not discharging their duty, resulting in it finally showing in the institution’s results, Nandakumar lamented.
Noting that the reports compiled by such officials did not have any details, Nandakumar said the report does not mention what was missing in the schools nor the remedial action to be taken for correcting the same.
