Crack in track delays Express train by one hour
A crack on the railway track near Tiruvalam station, about 13 kilometres from here, delayed Mysuru Express for more than an hour on Friday morning. The cascading effect was felt on two other trains that had to be stopped, affecting scores of passengers, especially those heading to offices in the morning hour.

It was the engine driver of the Mysuru-bound express train who spotted the crack on the rail. He informed officials at Katpadi railway station. Following this, rail traffic on the line was halted till the track was repaired. While the work was on, Mysuru Express was detained at Tiruvalam station for more than an hour. Â
It also affected Kovai Express and Shatabdi, both bound to Coimbatore, which had to be stopped at stations along the way. Meanwhile, two persons were found dead at the Katpadi station platform on Thursday.Â
Following alert from passengers, Railway Police personnel rushed a man aged around 50 years who swooned on platform 1 to Vellore government hospital. The Aadhaar card identified him as Deivasigamani from Coimbatore.Â
The same afternoon, another person, aged around 60 years and dressed in white striped shirt and black pants, was found dead on platform 2 of the station. The body taken to the Vellore GH, and police are investigating his identity.
