    Collector releases NABARD credit plan for Tiruvannamalai

    More than 85 per cent of the groundwater in 40 of the 52 firkas in Tiruvannamalai district has been exploited, which makes water management crucial for the district, said collector KS Kandasamy, while releasing the Potential Linked Creditor Plan (PLCP) for 2018-19 for Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday.

    Calling on officials to speed up all processes linked to agriculture as more than 4 lakhs farmers relied on it in this fully agrarian district, he said the district theme “per drop more crop” and “water for every farm” should become a reality. Stating that the PLCP formed the basis for the annual credit plan later, the collector urged the official to ensure continued on agricultural term loans, micro credit through collateral-free SHG and on farm sector to boost rural employment.

    The PLCP envisages a total outlay of Rs 5065.03 cr for the district, which includes agricultural term loans of Rs 2628.57 crore and term loans for allied sectors at Rs 1085.77 crore. The MSME sector would be provided Rs 31.24 crore, while agro processing, export credit, education, housing and renewable energy were estimated at Rs 187.89 cr, Rs 99.73 cr, Rs 12 cr and Rs 173 cr respectively.

    The proposed PLCP envisages a six per cent increase over last year. Those present included agriculture JD Shenbagaraj, RBI lead district officer N Balaji and Tiruvannamalai lead bank manager S Elavarasan.
