AIADMK men’s presence at wedding attended by TTV sparks speculation
The brief visit of RK Nagar MLA and rebel AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran to Melvisharam, about 15 km from Vellore, on Sunday night triggered rumours that former AIADMK MLA Kalaiarasu and former minister M Pandurangan were likely to switch allegiance to him.
Vellore
Besieged as the district is without a strong functionary and with party cadre claiming that many were deserting to Dinakaran’s side due to the activities of Vellore West district secretary and commercial taxes minister KC Veeramani, many cadre felt that if Kalaiarasu and Pandurangan followed, it would weaken the party further specially ahead of the civic polls.
Kalaiarasu said, “Though I do nurse political ambitions, I did not meet TTV at the marriage as I went there before he arrived. However, it is true that Veeramani is responsible for many going over to Dinakaran’s side due to the common feeling that Veeramani does not respect partymen.”
Two time Anaicut MLA and former agriculture minister Pandurangan said, “TTV personally asked me to come to his side and I told him that I would think about it if he would give me an appointment to talk to him.”
Meanwhile, Dinakaran urged the government to convene the Assembly ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pass a resolution demanding the setting up of the Cauvery Management Board in six weeks. In a statement, he said the resolution passed in the Assembly could be handed over to the PM during his visit to Chennai on February 24.
