Talking to DT Next, the actress said, “I’m not qualified or skilled enough to work in politics or make a statement – so I will not be playing any active role in my dad’s party. But I will support him wholeheartedly throughout his journey. I’m happy for him and his decision to enter the political scene.”

When asked if she will accompany Kamal on the first day of his yatra? “No, I will not be accompanying him to Rameswaram. That’s his journey to undertake!” she quipped. Earlier in the day, during an informal chat with the media, Kamal also introduced new members of his political team and said he would be holding several more interactions as his tour progresses.

When pressed about how he plans to navigate a tightly- packed day on February 21, Kamal said, “I was able to release the audio of Vishwaroopam in three cities on the same day. I’m more than capable of handling my schedule easily.” Further questions on his impending collaboration with Dr KR Sridhar of Bloom Energy to fuel his mission of ‘model villages’ met with a quiet smile and insistence that he would talk about it in detail eventually. Kamal did add that many questions would be answered during his speech at Othakadai ground in Madurai where he would conclude the day one of his journey.

Meanwhile, actress Gautami, Kamal’s ex-partner, was also asked after a temple visit on her opinion and who she’d support. “Neither,” answered the actress, adding, “Not until I know what Rajinikanth or Kamal stands for. Their political policies have not yet been announced fully and until then, it is best not to decide who I will support. Once we get more information on that, we can make the decision.”

Meanwhile, in Kovilpatti Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani said actors have taken up the role of politicians as the politicians have forgotten that they are elected for the welfare of the people and start acting. Moreover, state IT Minister M Manikandan, while speaking in Ramanathapuram on Sunday said, “Kamal will meet the fate of comedian Vadivelu if he enters politics and people will not accept him.”

Stalin extends ‘sincere’ wishes to Kamal

DMK working president MK Stalin on Sunday said, “Anyone can take the political plunge. I sincerely wish they get the full opportunity to last long and serve the people,” after wishing actor Kamal Haasan, the latest political entrant from Kollywood, on him taking the political plunge.

Talking to media persons after hosting Kamal, who met Karunanidhi at Gopalapuram on Sunday, Stalin said, “I wished Rajinikanth when he had met Karunanidhi earlier. Karunanidhi also wished him then. Likewise, we wished Kamal now.” Noticeably, Stalin (and his father Karunanidhi) was all smiles while hosting Kamal, unlike during the rendezvous with Rajinikanth when the DMK working president put up a grim front. Stalin even went on to add that Kamal has assured to participate in the all-party meeting to be convened by the DMK to discuss the Cauvery issue.
