DMK to convene all-party meet, invite AIADMK, BJP
Stating that the ruling AIADMK had not paid heed to their request to convene the all-party meeting to discuss Cauvery issue, MK Stalin said, “No announcement has been made so far (by the ruling AIADMK) in this regard. So, as the principal opposition party we have decided to convene an all-party meeting. We will invite the ruling AIADMK and the state unit of BJP for the meeting.”

Claiming that the farmers of the state were suffering because of the weak arguments put forth by the EPS regime in the apex court, Stalin alleged that Tamil Nadu has lost its due share of 14.75 tmcft because of the ruling AIADMK replacing senior lawyers, who had argued the case for the state during DMK tenure owing to political and personal animosity.
Alleging that the state government had failed to present before SC the conclusion of the Cauvery Tribunal that 50 per cent of Bengaluru’s drinking water requirements are met with by groundwater and a report of the Union government, which was validated by the tribunal, the Leader of Opposition said the EPS regime lost the state’s riparian rights by not advancing the arguments, which the DMK regime had successfully presented before the Tribunal earlier. He listed out various measures taken by the DMK on the Cauvery issue since 1969 in a rebuttal to CM’s critique of his party.
Meanwhile, the principal opposition party levelled its first ever attack on CPM, mainly its former general secretary Prakash Karat, ever since the Left party took a stand not to be a part of an alliance comprising the Congress party. DMK propaganda secretary Tiruchy Siva said that Karat’s speech was destabilising the united fight of the secular forces.
