Vijay’s fan club website hints at political entry?
While Vijay’s interest in politics has never been a secret, the actor’s decision to bring together his fan clubs on a single online platform has once again fuelled rumours about a possible entry into the arena
Chennai
Even before industry veterans Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, it was Vijay who had evinced an interest in politics. While the entry of his senior colleagues has been making headlines the last few months, Vijay’s move to bring all his fan clubs and unite them under a single online platform, has sparked fresh rumours about his political entry.
The Vijay Makkal Iyakkam website, which was launched a few months ago, it is now actively asking all members to register online. The district heads of the association have been directed to enroll the fans with proper identification. When asked if this is the actor’s groundwork before he takes a plunge into politics, a source close to Vijay told DT Next, “The website was created in September 2017 to keep track of his fan club activities. Now they have asked the members to enroll themselves digitally, so that the process becomes easier.”
Vijay’s spokesperson added, “To be honest, he is not contemplating his political entry at all. It is not going to happen anytime soon. We have only made his fan clubs digital. He is focussed on his films right now and there isn’t much to talk or speculate about his entry into politics.”
On the work front, the source said that Vijay is currently shooting in Kolkata for his 62nd film helmed by AR Murugadoss. It is worth mentioning that it was only recently that Rajinikanth launched a website and an app to interact with people to leave about their views on the state’s political scenario. He brought all his fan clubs under one roof via rajinimandram.org and an app.
