“The funding for homeless poor as part of local area development by KKNPP has been stopped at all four phases for the past 26 months. The project envisaged to convert as many as 5,000 makeshift/thatched roof houses into concrete houses. I have been making repeated representations to Tirunelveli Collector and the administration of KKNPP but to no avail. The entire lot is now doesn’t have shelter because of the lackadaisical attitude of both the state and power plant machinery”, said Appavu.
He also blamed that the meagre compensation awarded to the land holders too were not paid up. As regards to the employment promised to the locals in the category of ‘C’ and ‘D’ in KKNPP, the former legislator pointed out that the promise was in total violation with the openings of nearly 222 posts in the said categories were filled through transfer from other facilities elsewhere in the country.
