When asked about the comments of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram on the Union Budget-2018 Swami replied that Chidambaram would soon land in prison for a case pending against him and so there is no need to worry about his comments.
When asked why the Centre is not allotting proper funds for Tamil Nadu, he replied, “It is not the problem of the Union government, but it is the inability of the MPs from Tamil Nadu to get more funds. Only the elected MPs should fight for the rights of people of Tamil Nadu
BJP distances itself from Swamy’s remark
BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan distanced herself from the comments of her party colleague Subramanian Swamy on Cauvery water dispute. Tamilisai cleared the air on Sunday that the views of Swamy are of his own and the state unit of the BJP do not subscribe to the same.
“If he makes a remark, it belongs to him. We do not have to view them as that of the BJP’s,” she explained, when asked to clarify the party’s stand on Cauvery issue, since Swamy had asserted that getting from water from Cauvery as impossible. “He always has his own set of views. His remark on Cauvery is one such. It is pertinent to note that he had even made adverse remarks on BJP itself,” she added.
As regards to the fire in Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai, Tamilisai demanded that a judicial probe must be ordered into the incident.
