Minister insists on party cards to get government schemes

However, the comments did not go well with public and opposition parties as they started questioning whether Sellur Raju is Minister for the people or for AIADMK cadre. 

On Sunday, the cadre enrollment work was going on at the party office and Sellur Raju, who visited the office, advised the functionaries that party cards should not be issued to people who had acted against the interest of the party. He also advised the party cadre not to include the name of the people who had acted against the party and who were already removed by the party headquarters. 

Sellur Raju said that the party ID card is the lifeline of AIADMK cadre and it should not be misused.  Only those who possess the party card would be able to avail of government schemes both for them and for their family, he said and added such cards should not be misused and should not be passed on to the people who had acted against the party.  However, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, at Madurai airport, said that it was the personal comment of Sellur Raju and should not be confused with the party’s stand.
