Territorial assembly Speaker V Vaithilingam, Ministers, MLAs, freedom fighters and government officials were among those who paid tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
They also observed silence for a couple of minutes in memory of the Mahatma.
PCC president and PWD Minister A Namassivam led party workers and legislators to pay homage at the portrait of the Mahatma on the premises of the PCC office.
