Jayakumar blames Stalin for instigating stir
State Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, who defended the marginal downward revision of bus fare following protests from all quarters, took swipes at the DMK working president MK Stalin on Sunday.

Reasoning that the government had already cleared dues to retirees from transport corporations up to November, the Minister noted that the state had not revised the bus fare in the past seven years.
“In the meantime, the rates of the spare parts, diesel, and maintenance have gone upwards besides the pay revision to the transport employees. At this juncture, the state wants to improve the service to its citizens. We need to augment revenue in order to increase the bus fleet and to purchase new buses,” Jayakumar said.
Reiterating the remarks made by Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Stalin, the Minister wondered as to how the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) can go on instigating protests when he is in the know of things. “Being in a responsible post, he should be more compassionate. It appears Stalin yearns to unseat the AIADMK government and utilise this opportunity in vain as usual,” he noted.
Stalin had been trying many a gimmick to unseat the government and it has been falling flat every time, since his fiasco in the Assembly, Jayakumar added.
