TRB scam: Government school headmaster arrested
The Cyber Crime wing of Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Monday arrested 52-year-old P Chinnasamy of Natham in Dindigul village in connection with the TRB scam over recruitment of lecturers in government polytechnic colleges in the state.
Chennai
Chinnasamy, a headmaster at a government middle school in Natham, is the fifth person to be arrested in the sensational case after B Ganesan (38) of East Mogappair, N Sheik Dawood Nasar (32) of Maduravoyal, I Raghupathy (34) of Kolathur and J Suresh Paul (34) of Ayanavaram.Â
While police took custody of Ganesan from January 3 to 8, Sheik Dawood Nasar, who surrendered at Ponneri court on January 6, is currently being interrogated. With his inputs, the other three have been nabbed.
Police sources said that Chinnasamy just like Ganesan canvassed aspiring candidates promising them a lecturer job in polytechnic colleges and received huge sums from them. Ragupathy is the manager of Datatec Methodex Private Limited, the agency entrusted with the examination procedure, while Sheik Dawood Nasar worked as a technical expert at the same firm. Suresh Paul was Ragupathy’s aide, said police.Â
Though many had scored high marks in the examination conducted by TRB in September 2018, their names did not make it to shortlisted candidates, leading the suspicion of malpractice in the procedure. A case was booked based on a complaint by TRB member secretary Uma.
