    A Class 12 student who suffered an epileptic attack in a school in Srivaikuntam in Thoothukudi district, died in the hospital, on Wednesday.

    The incident happened in the afternoon when Karuthapandi (17), from Velur was writing a revision test in his school. Suddenly, he suffered an epileptic attack and was rushed to the Srivaikuntam GH for treatment. However, he in the hospital in the night. His body was taken to the Palayamkottai GH for post-mortem.

    Police said that Karthupathi had been suffering from epilepsy right from his childhood but was not given proper treatment.

    Boy ends life

    Meanwhile, in Coimbatore, a Class 10 student, who came home from school, saying that he had a headache, committed suicide, on Thursday. It is learnt that teachers had pulled up Jaffer (16), for not attending special classes. Later, as he said that he had a headache, a school staff dropped him home. On seeing him early, his mother had questioned him. Paying little heed to her queries, he had rushed into a room and locked it from inside.

    When Jaffer failed to respond to repeated knocks by his mother, she along with the help of the neighbours broke open the door and was horrified to see him hanging from the ceiling fan. Rathinapuri police held enquiries and are probing the cause of his death.
