    TTV Dinakaran joins opposition bandwagon

The lone independent MLA TTV Dinakaran termed Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s address in the Assembly as a ‘ritual’ and an ‘eyewash’ on Monday.

“Constitution of Cauvery Management Board, safety issues plaguing the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, travails of fishermen affected by Cyclone Ockhi and the ongoing struggle of transport workers had failed to make it to the Governor’s address,” Dinakaran listed out. “It also did not have any mention of the methane extraction project in the Cauvery delta districts which is detrimental to the farmers,” he added.

Dinakaran’s victory has raised many eyebrows in the political corridors. He, moreover, revived the ‘smile’ factor of AIADMK legislators in the House previously used by his jailed aunt VK Sasikala to alienate the then dethroned Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.

Dinakaran said he could see several erstwhile friends searching for him inside the House. “I mean even the ministers were curious to know where I was. I could see a grin develop on their faces, and they ensured that they did not sport it for others to see,”he noted.

He said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his Deputy and a few had hung their faces unable to face him. Dinakaran, who claimed himself to be an opposite party, wanted the media to wait until a no-confidence motion against this government was moved in the House for the activation of the ‘Sleeper Cells’.

He found no fault in joining hands with the Opposition at such a time and added that he had already announced extending support to the DMK, if it moved such a motion. “There is nothing wrong in joining hands with the Opposition to do good things,” Dinakaran said.

“The government has only 111 MLAs on its side and the Governor should direct a floor test. The Governor’s address looks like he was endorsing this minority government, while he has to test the majority,” he observed.
