Madurai Collector completes ‘Swachh Survekshan’ marathon
Madurai Collector K Veera Raghav Rao successfully completed 21 kilometres in a marathon event conducted to bring awareness about ‘Swachh Survekshan- 2018’, on Sunday.

The Swachh Survekshan-2018, a survey to assess the cleanliness of the city, would commence in every city soon. It is conducted to bring awareness about cleanliness.
Madurai Corporation is working towards increasing the rank of Madurai in the cleanliness ranking and so recently four ‘Swachh’ ambassadors were appointed.
As part of continuous awareness programmes, a marathon was conducted in Madurai, on Sunday. The event was conducted under three categories. First category was for men and the total distance was 21 kilometres. Second category was for women and the total distance was 12 kilometres. The third category was for children which was for 5 kilometres.
Madurai Collector also participated in the event and along with other runners. Inspired by the Collector, many youngsters ran along with him and completed the 21 kilometer marathon. Later, Collector along with the state minister for co-operation Sellur K Raju gave away the prizes for the winners.
Ordinary people succeed in life: Collector
Later in the day, Collector participated in a guidance program for Class 12 students of the economically poor background who had scored low marks in their quarterly examination and boosted their confidence. He said that everyone should pass but should not stop with it and aim to come out with flying colours. He also insisted them to aim big in their life as people from ordinary background had succeeded in their lives.
In the event organised by Susila Sankaran Coaching Centre, free guides were distributed to the students by High Court Judge G R Swaminathan.
