In Madurai city, private buses were roped in to help passengers stranded in several areas as only around
30 percent of the scheduled trips were run. The situation was much worse in rural areas where people complained of total stoppage of bus services.

Inter-state bus services in Theni and Kanniyakumari districts were also affected. Large number of passengers travelling to Kerala were left stranded in Bodinayakanur and in Nagercoil bus stands without proper bus services.
65 per cent of buses operated, claims Minister After inspecting the Anna bus stand in Kovilpatti, Minister for Information and Publicity, Kadambur C.Raju, told reporters that 65 percentage of buses are operated across the state.
He added that the drivers on strike would return to work soon, as the High Court had directed them to return to work.
