718 held during combing operation
In a massive combing operation, Vellore district police have arrested 718 persons involved in anti-social activities.

Besides, local committees have been formed to keep a watch over individuals from the district allegedly involved in cutting red sander trees in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. He also added that 10 committees, each consisting of eight members were formed recently to oversee the activities of around 200 villagers, who were engaged by agents in cutting down red sanders in AP.
While 718 persons, out of 774 identified, were remanded in judicial custody, four special teams have been formed to arrest the remaining 56 persons. Revealing further details, he said 334 of the 368 persons suspected to be involved in waylaying have been arrested.
