Mild tremors felt near Kerala border
According to some of the residents, they felt the ground shaking lightly when they were having dinner. Initially, some of them thought that it was just a figment of their imagination.

Mild tremors were felt in villages bordering Kerala border in Tirunelveli district, on Wednesday night.
The tremors were felt by the people at 9 pm in several villages such Achamputhur, Panmozhi, Vadakarai near Sengottai and Achamkodu, Melagaram villages near Tenkasi in Tirunelveli district.
According to some of the residents, they felt the ground shaking lightly when they were having dinner. Initially, some of them thought that it was just a figment of their imagination.
But they were horrified when they saw the TV stand shaking. Even though the shaking lasted only for a few seconds, the cries from panicky neighbours made everyone leave their dinner on the table and run outside for safety.
“Immediately after feeling the tremors I heard people crying to others on streets and I too ran out,”said one of the residents.
No damage to property
The mild tremors caused panic among the residents in the villages and they were all standing in the streets till late in the night. No property damage was reported from any of the villages, said officials.
Tirunelveli Collector, Sandeep Nanduri, said that the tremors were mild and were felt for just two to three seconds. The tremors were also felt in a few villages in Sengottai, Tenkasi and Kadayanallur taluks.
The officials of the revenue department were sent to the spot to assess the situation. So far, nothing untoward has been reported in the villages and there is no damage to people or property, added the Collector.
