    Government directed to release Rs 175 crore for retired STC staff immediately

    The state government has informed the MHC that despite heavy financial crisis, action is being taken to release ‘ways and means’ advance of Rs 175 crore towards settlement of statutory dues to the retired employees of State Transport Corporation.

    A division bench comprising S Manikumar and R Sureshkumar on recording the Advocate General Vijay Narayan’s submission that the Rs 175 crore would be disbursed soon, made it clear that the Government Order should be issued forthwith and disbursement made by Tuesday (December 26) to the STC divisions immediately, as assured.  

    The bench also recorded the aspect that as ordered earlier, a sum of Rs 379 crore ought to have been sanctioned and disbursed by December 15, 2017, as the second instalment towards arrears to the retired employees. 

    However, a sum of Rs 175 crore alone is sought to be sanctioned, the bench held and posted the matter for further hearing to January 3. On the payment of third instalment, which falls due on January 15, the AG submitted that he would get appropriate instruction about the deficit.
