Kovai Hindu Munnani leader murder: Main suspect held

The CB-CID had earlier announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for any information leading to his arrest. Mubarak had been avoiding appearing before the CB-CID investigators despite repeated summons sent to his house.

The sleuths from the special investigation division of CB-CID in October had arrested S Subair of Ukkadam in Coimbatore in connection with the murder of Sasikumar, a spokesperson of Hindu Munnani.

The police team had already arrested Syed Abutahir and were on the lookout for Mubarak, a resident of Saibaba Colony. It may be recalled that the investigation into the murder of Sasikumar was transferred to CB-CID, after the crime created unrest in the western region of the state for two days immediately after the killing and local police had no clue about the killers.

On the night of September 22 night, a bike-borne gang on bikes had hit Sasikumar’s two-wheeler making him fall on the road. He was later hacked to death.
