Appoint permanent HM: Ambalur alumni

Vellore
A number of old students of the Government Higher Secondary School at Ambalur near Vaniyambadi on Friday submitted a petition to Vellore Collector SA Raman, demanding that their former school be provided with a full-time headmaster.
According to M Balsubramani who completed his Class 12 from the school in 2007, said the institution started during the heyday of the then Chief Minister K Kamaraj, was in dire straits due to lack of a permanent headmaster for several years. “The last incumbent stayed only for 25 days, before successfully getting a transfer to the place of his choice,” he claimed.
Another former student, M Parthasarathy, also from the same locality said, “It is because of this that we were forced to form the Ambalur Government Higher Secondary School former students association this year. This fluid situation has been in place for over three years now and has resulted in student admissions and pass percentage dropping, as there is no headmaster to take up the issue.” Association treasurer A Jayasivam added, “The upgradation of a high school to higher secondary status at Ramanaickenpet has only added to the issue as that institution attracts more students to the detriment of our former institution.” When asked about this, district officials said the matter was being looked into.
