Justice SM Subramaniam while passing further interim orders on a writ petition from transgender Swapna, on Thursday, said “As per the report filed, prima facie certain allegations of corruption are revealed.” The judge then suo-motu impleading all the 74 selected candidates directed the Registry to issue notice to the TNPSC. Swapna, who had managed to clear the preliminary examination and failing to clear the main written exams had moved the plea alleging malpractices in the exam and prayed for a direction to the TNPSC to cancel the main written examinations conducted on July 29, 30 and 31, 2016 for Group-I services.
Noting that while TNPSC had refused to provide a copy of her answer sheet, which she sought through RTI, she said her fears of massive malpractices was confirmed when a private Tamil television channel aired a programme alleging rampant corruption in holding the exam. Citing that the channel had also claimed that it had copies of the original answer sheet and that it has complained to the chief minister’s cell and the city police commissioner, the petitioner had sought the court to restrain the TNPSC from proceeding further with the recruitment process till the final disposal of the petition.
Also, subsequent proceedings which had led to the forensic examination of an answer booklet submitted by the TV channel and the booklet given by TNPSC, stated that the plates used for the printed matter were one and the same.
