L Murugan also said that the commission reviewed whether the reservation policy has been adopted properly. He said that the land identified for distribution to the Scheduled Caste in Ariyalur was 2,528 acre from which 462 acre land is encroached. “We have asked the district administration to retrieve the encroached land within 15 days, so that it could be distributed to the beneficiaries who have been waiting for years”, said Murugan.
Meanwhile, he said several petitions were received for Old Age Pension, housing pattas and house allotment under the slum clearance board and the district administration has been asked to submit a report on this within a week. While an amount of Rs 28 lakh has been disbursed as a loan through TAHDCO in the current year so far a loan of Rs 9.47 crore has been disbursed under the MUDRA scheme. Similarly, a sum of Rs 36 crore has been distributed to 2,128 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana and Rs78 lakh under ‘StandUp India’ scheme.
While responding to a query on the progress of the suicide case of medical aspirant Anitha of Kuzhumur in Ariyalur, the NCSC vice chairman said, the commission had summoned the Chief Secretary, DGP, Ariaylur Collector and the SP before it in New Delhi for an inquiry on December 12 as the previous report submitted by the inquiry panel was not satisfactory. “We found that some outside force was involved in the suicide and so we summoned the officials. They were present for the inquiry before the committee on the scheduled day and submitted a report and the committee is yet to review the report since we have been waiting for a similar report from the Puthiya Tamilagam president Dr Krishnasamy who had initially raised doubt over the death with a series of support points,” Murugan said.
Earlier, the review meeting was held in the Ariyalur Collectorate in which Collector G Laxmi Priya, SP Abinav Kumar and other officials were present.
