Fire Services personnel rescue spotted deer from well
Officials of the Forest department, helped by the Fire Services personnel of the SIPCOT Fire Station, rescued a one-and-a half-year old spotted deer, which fell into a well in a field at Ramapuram near the Ammur Reserve Forest on Wednesday.
Vellore
Forest range officer M Vijay of the Arcot Forest Range was informed that a spotted deer had fallen into the well belonging to K Venketesan. He immediately informed Forester Kulothungam and others in his office to start rescue operations.
However, as the staff lacked the necessary equipment, they requested the help of the SIPCOT Fire Service personnel and the latter arrived promptly. The staff first climbed into the well and after lassoing the deer, covered its face with a sack, to prevent unnecessary movement. After tying the front and hind feet, a rope was passed through. The ends of the rope were handed over to staff waiting at the top of the well, following which the latter slowly lifted the animal out. The rescued deer was then released in the adjacent Reserve Forest.
