Dashwanth escapes from TN cops’ from hotel in Mumbai
Twenty-four hours after the Chennai police arrested Dashwanth, a rape-murder accused, the suspect escaped from police custody from Mumbai on Thursday.

The dramatic escape took place near Hotel Satellite which is close to the domestic airport in Mumbai, where the Chennai police stayed along with the suspect. According to a Mumbai police source, the team had removed handcuffs from one of his hands to have lunch at an eatery when he reportedly escaped.
Police said that Dashwanth was produced before a court in Chembur on Thursday to procure a prisoner transit warrant. The police team was reportedly taking him back to the hotel in the afternoon from where all of them were supposed to go to the airport to fly back to Chennai.
All local police stations in Mumbai have been put on alert and all deputy commissioners have been asked to look into their respective jurisdiction for any information on him.
Dashwanth, the 22-year-old unemployed engineering graduate was tracked to Mumbai on Wednesday by the police. He had allegedly murdered his mother Sarala on December 2 and fled with jewellery from their house in Kundrathur.
Immediately after the murder of his mother, Dashwanth travelled to Bengaluru. He then contacted his former jail mates, including a flesh trade broker, who reportedly gave the contact of a sex worker in Mumbai, to him. From December 4 onwards, Dashwanth was in Mumbai with the sex worker, sources said. Police, after collecting details of the sex worker from the broker had zeroed in on her who led them to the wanted criminal.
