10 from Nagercoil on way to Tirupati killed in Tiruchy accident
A pilgrimage to Tirupati turned tragic for a Nagercoil family as 10 persons, including three women and two children, were killed after the van in which they were travelling rammed a stationary borewell truck near Thuvarankurichi during the wee hours of Thursday. Five others were grievously injured in the accident.

Sources said, Vaithilingam (79) and his wife Pushpa Kala (68) from Kottar in Nagercoil along with 13 other members of their family started on a trip to Tirupati in a tempo traveller on Wednesday.
When the van was passing through the service road in Thuvarankurichi during the wee hours of Thursday, the van driver lost control and the vehicle rammed a stationary borewell truck.
In the impact, many of the inmates were trapped inside the van, which was completely damaged. Passers-by rescued the some of them besides alerting the 108 service.
However, nine persons, Vaithilingam, his wife Pushpa Kala, their son V Easwaran (38), his wife Neela (25) all from Chettikulam near Kottar in Nagercoil, Ayyappan (52) of Nagercoil his wife Sorna alais Velammal (48), Sankara Kumar (44), his son Nandish (5), N Jaya Sandhya (10) were killed on the spot.
The injured were rushed to the Tiruchy GH. But, Natarajan (45), father of Jaya Sandhya, died on the way to the hospital.
The van driver, who escaped with injuries, is undergoing treatment The police have registered a case and have arrested the borewell truck driver Chandra Sekaran (39) of Tiruchengode.
