3 more idol lifters held, car seized

It may be recalled that idol wing IG Pon Manickavel, who investigated the theft of a Ganesh idol from a temple at Sholavaram near Kaniyambadi on October 29, was responsible for the arrest of three persons identified as Tirulokachander (39), Anbu (24) and Muniraj (40), all from the neighbouring localities.

Investigations revealed that more persons might have been involved in the crime. Thus, when DSP Arokiam was conducting night patrolling near Kaniyambadi, he stopped a speeding car and interrogated the occupants, who later confessed to their part in the theft of local temple idols.

They were identified as Sathyamoorthy (27), Kannan (28) and Dinesh (29). All three were remanded and lodged in the Vellore central prison.
