Maruthu Ganesh claimed that the state of non-development for over six years in the constituency would work in his favour. “It would help secure the seat for the DMK combine, and would end this anti-people regime,” he said.
Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, who accompanied Madhusudhanan, asserted their margin to be a minimum of 50,000 votes. Lambasting Dinakaran of having no locus standi to use the party flag, he alleged that people from other districts were brought to express a show of strength and thus violating the code during nomination process. “You should understand that he is contesting in the legitimate ‘Two Leaves’ symbol. Our lone contender is the DMK not anyone else,” he said.
Madhusudhanan maintained that the unified AIADMK would work like a doublebarrel gun. “Last time, we had a single-barrel weapon and we have added one more to it. We also have the party symbol. It would have its obvious impact,” the AIADMK candidate replied to a query on same contestants being fielded again.
Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who differed on the contest aspect, stated that everyone in the fray is their contestant and that he/ she would emerge victorious.
Meanwhile, Dinakaran observed that the people of RK Nagar were aware of his contest and the misdeeds of the ruling dispensation at the behest of the BJP.
“People’s verdict is ultimate. They’re witness to what the BJP had been doing to the state and to the party in the past 10 months,” he said.
