Cadre yet to unite, says Viswanathan

At a time when a controversy is raging that Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and his supporters are being sidelined in the ruling party, former Minister Natham R Viswanathan has said that the merger of two factions had happened only at the highest level and the cadres were yet to be impacted.

“Repeated talks of Ministers and top functionaries in the AIADMK about unification and urging of cadre to work together show that the factions of Panneerselvam and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami have not merged completely,” he said.

Addressing the functionaries at a meeting in Dindigul on Sunday, the former minister asked if there is no problem in the party, why the Ministers keep harping on party unity.

“The merger is only at the top level and the cadres have not merged. It is only due to the political compulsions that the two factions have come together and it is just for name sake,” said Viswanathan.

“The leaders at the top and the functionaries should work together to create a sense of confidence among the cadres so that we can win,” he added.
