3 sanitary workers hacked to death
Three sanitary workers were hacked to death at two different areas here early today by a gang, sparking tension, police said.

It is said, G Veera (36), his brother G Saravanan (35) and their relative Bala Murugan (40), residents of Nettutheru in Municipal colony, sanitation staff of Dindigul corporation, went on with their usual routine on Friday morning.
While Veera was engaged in work near Nagal Nagar Bhava lodge, Saravanan was working in the bus stand area near Ponnappa Nadar cut road and Bala Murugan was engaged in work on Siluvathur road.
Suddenly at 6.30 am, an armed gang came on a two wheeler and assaulted Balamurugan. He fell on the ground in a pool of blood and died on the spot. At the same time, another gang reportedly murdered Veera at his work spot. Similarly, Saravanan was also murdered by a gang at his work spot. It is said that all the three gangs fled the spot after committing the gory crime.
It is said that entire Dindigul town was shocked at the murders and tension prevailed in the town area. On receiving information about the multiple murders, police rushed to the scenes of crime. They removed the bodies from the spot of murder and began investigations. The initial inquiry revealed that it was a planned murder and the one who masterminded is yet to be traced. Superintendent of Police Sakthivel, who visited the spot, has launched a massive hunt for the accused. He has also formed separate teams to nab the assailants.
Meanwhile, the bodies were taken to the Dindigul GH for autopsy. The relatives of the deceased who assembled at the spot demanded the police to arrest the accused immediately. They also refused to accept the bodies. Later, the officials held talks with the agitating family members and assured them of proper action as soon as possible. Only then, the family members dispersed.
