TTV Dinakaran’s future hinges on 18 MLAs’ case
Sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran, who had vowed to enter the fray in RK Nagar by-poll, is likely to be up against the magical “Two Leaves’ symbol of the AIADMK led by O Panneerselvam’s team and the state government headed by Edappadi K Palaniswami.

Although, he had vowed to appeal in the Supreme Court against the Election Commission verdict, he is running against time, since the Election Commission would soon announce the election date for the prestigious RK Nagar battle. Once the AIADMK under Panneerselvam performs better than Dinakaran and pushed him to the third spot, the latter would face a bleak feature and political obscurity.
Dinakaran’s hopes rely on getting a favourable verdict in the case on the disqualification of 18 MLAs supporting him and bringing down the government. However, even if the disqualification of the MLAs is quashed, the impact of the EC judgment on their future stand remains to be seen.
Pall of gloom at Dinakaran’s home town Mannargudi
While the EPS-OPS factions celebrate the winning of party symbol, TTV Dinakaran supporters maintained unusual silence, even in the home town of Mannargudi. Dinakaran, who was giving a tough fight to retrieve the party symbol, was in Tiruchy from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning. He avoided media ever since he was in Tiruchy.
One of his close associates from Mannargudi said, “As the Election Commission has given a biased verdict as pointed out by Dinakaran, we too have the same feeling and hope the Supreme Court will give us an unbiased verdict.”
The shocked supporters have decided to hold a meeting. Meanwhile, in Thanjavur, AIADMK deputy coordinator and Rajya Sabha MP R Vaithilingam said, “His (Dinakaran’s) day dreams did not come true. And now his supporters are welcome to the mother party.”
