CBI begins probe into Ordnance Factory recruitment
The anti-corruption branch, CBI Chennai, has initiated a probe into suspected impersonation during a recruitment examination conducted for Mutli-Tasked Staff (MTS)/ lower division clerks (LDCs) at the Ordnance Factory, Tiruchy, in May 2016, after the fingerprints of four selected/ candidates who have joined duty failed to match with the prints taken at the examination hall.
Chennai
The FIR registered on Thursday, based on a complaint by the Assistant Works Manager of the factory, cites Ram Gopal, a UP native and Dhananjay Kumar from Bihar, but now residing at Ordnance estate, Tiruchy, Roshan Kumar from Lakhisarai, Bihar, Anjeet Kumar of Munger, Bihar, Delhi based ACE consultants and Chennai based Satvat Infosol, along with unknown public servants as the suspects.
The case was registered under IPC sections of criminal conspiracy, cheating and also under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
CBI says that it has come to light that a few candidates indulged in malpractices by making someone else to impersonate them while attending the written examination and thereby got selected via fraudulent means.Â
The CBI strongly feels that some employees of the factory and the two agencies outsourced to conduct the examinations were party to the crime. After the written examinations, 15 candidates were selected for the post of MTS. Out of them the fingerprints of nine candidates, who had joined, were taken and sent to the Tamil Nadu Fingerprint Bureau.
Of the nine, the fingerprints of four candidates, who had joined the organisation, did not match with the prints taken during the examination, which was held on May 29, 2016, at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchy.
The CBI said Anjeet Kumar joined duty on February 23, 2017 and was absent from April, 13, 2017. Ramgopal and Dhananjay Kumar are currently working in the factory, while Roshan Kumar has not returned after he was sent for a medical examination.
