Rameswaram fisherman falls into sea, dies

A 37-year-old fisherman from Rameswaram died by falling into the sea at Thengapattanam coast in Kanniyakumari district, on Wednesday. The incident happened on Wednesday night, when the deceased fisherman M Senthil Kumar, after returning from fishing had anchored the boat and was cleaning the boat. While he was cleaning, he had accidentally slipped into the sea. Immediately, fellow fishermen jumped and searched for him but could not be found. Even the Fisheries Department and Marine police were informed about the incident and they searched but so far, they have not rescued the body of Senthil Kumar.
Relief sought for kin of fishermen from Kerala governmentÂ
A fishermen representative from Kanniyakumari district met Kerala fisheriesminister Mercy Kutty Amma, on Thursday, and demanded action on the ship that rammed against a boat killing a fisherman.
The incident happened on October 11 when a group of six fishermen were fishing near Beypoe coast in Kozhikode district, an unknown ship had rammed against their boat in which the entire boat was damaged.
Out of six fishermen two were rescued while one died and three others went missing. Antony was the deceased person. Though the families of Antony and missing fishermen had demanded the officials to identify the ship and provide compensation for them.
